The majority supported the expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif, which made Gaza Judenrein.
The majority opposed Jewish "settlements," and went along with the media's demonization of these mostly religious right-wing Jews.
They devoted time, resources, energy, and finances to providing employment, assistance, and healthcare to the Muslim-Arab residents of Gaza, including lovingly transporting Gazan children to hospitals in Israel for life-saving care.
And when the same people they cared for and supported came from Gaza to torture, burn, and slaughter them, who eventually came to save them?
Who ultimately suffered severe injuries, permanent injuries — and even died for them?
Armed volunteers and citizens. IDF soldiers.
And some of the very soldiers (including commanding officers) who died to save them were the same Jews expelled from Gush Katif — at the behest and with the heartfelt support of these same secular Leftist kibbutznikim, for whom these soldiers and officers violated Shabbat and gave up their lives on Simchat Torah.
Yes, some of these soldiers and officers were the same Jews who created settlements in opposition to the ideology of these secular Leftists who were so brutally and unforgivable attacked.
Why should these devoted Jews have died for people who wished to destroy their homes and communities — and never regretted the destruction, all the while living contentedly idyll lives in their own communities?
Why should these devoted Jews die for people who wish to uproot (or at the very best, remain apathetic to the uprooting of) the implementation of Jewish Law within Eretz Yisrael? People who have no problem with — or even actively engage in — intermarriage (one of the most destructive forces against Am Yisrael)?
To be fair, not all the people who suffered so horribly on that day in those kibbutzim were so assimilated.
So even seemed to have been at the beginning of a process of teshuvah (like Rachel Frikker).
And right now, many of those same secular Leftists are going through a process of re-evaluation.
This takes a lot of courage, pain, and sincerity — and they deserve tremendous credit for it.
Many realized their survival came about via their prayers, especially "Shema Yisrael."
Some have apologized to the nation and to the religious for their former beliefs.
But some continue with their same anti-Torah value system, only now they realize it was a mistake to be so nicey-nice to the Gazans.
And many secular Leftists around the country still hold their same self-destructive secular Leftist views, even with regard to the terrorism-supporting clans in Gaza.
Aside from those who are admirably starting on a process of sincere teshuvah, how many realize who came to their rescue and even sacrificed their lives for these same secular Leftists who tried to destroy the very Jews who ultimately died for them?
Do you not see there is something very, very hard-hearted and just plain wrong with a certain citizens, politicians, high-ranking army officials, and media personalities in this country?
