So one of the blogs I recently subscribed to is Brucha Weisberger's Substack blog:
truth613.substack.com/ with the title In God's Army, There's Only Truth.
I first discovered Brucha on the Going Home ... to Yerushalayim blog (thanks, Neshama!).
Why did I subscribe and why do I recommend this substack?
1) Brucha is an excellent writer and researcher. Her writing flows in a very readable manner and she also writes from the heart.
She doesn't remain at the superficial level of an issue, but anticipates counter-arguments and addresses them thoroughly.
That's important to me when discussing these topics. I gain the most from a THOROUGH fact-filled presentation, which anticipates counterarguments, and also does not rely on emotionally manipulative techniques to convince the reader.
Her also seems to be completely devoid of apologetics.
Brucha clearly writes from the heart on topics she feels passionate about, but the emotion does not overwhelm her presentation of the facts.
I love this combination.
Finally, she gives the impression of caring a lot about people, which is why she created this substack — it's a form of chessed.
2) I love her topics. She writes well-researched exposés about the medical field (including covid, mental health, vaccines, and alternative cures for cancer), current events, and one of my favorites, Exposing Another Humongous Fraud: On Dinosaur Bones, Museums, the United Nations, and Evolution. That includes fantastic information and photographic evidence. I think it's one of the best I've read on the topic. (And it was fun to read too, not at all like slogging through tons of dry text.) Geshmak.
3) She's a frum lady and keeps God firmly in the picture. I connect to her overall hashkafah. In addition to natural solutions for various issues, she warmly encourages heartfelt prayer.
4) Unlike many website subscriptions which seek to bring you to the actual website to gain them more views, the Substack subscription brings the actual post in full into your Inbox.
This is especially important to me because sometimes, my filter blocks certain pages or text of a post online (but less likely to happen in email), and also when I'll finally go off the Internet (except for keeping my email connection), I'll still be able to enjoy her posts because they arrive in full as email.
Just for knowing: My Netfree filter blocks Substack in general, but allows access to individual Substack accounts (like Brucha's).
In other words, I get nothing tangible out of recommending her, am not fulfilling a personal request of hers, am not planning to notify her in order to extract any advantages or favors (i.e., no "I washed your hand, so now you'd sure as heck better wash mine!") — and anyway, I'm going offline one day, so what would be the point? And so on.
(If that all sounds like an exaggerated disclaimer, then well, you should see what goes on behind the scenes of the blogosphere.)
I just believe her substack blog provides a wonderfully beneficial service and is very much worth reading.
If you haven't discovered her already, please feel free to check her out and...enjoy!
