However, a proportionate response can never happen.
It is simply impossible.
Why?
In order for the Israeli response to be "proportionate," Israel would need to do far more than merely bomb Gaza and send in troops for the targeted shooting of actual terrorists.
After all, the Hamas and their myriads of supporters have already been bombing and shooting Israelis (specifically civilian Israelis, as opposed to Israeli military leaders or installations).
So the Israelis have only been doing to the Gazan Arabs what Gazan Arabs have been doing to the Israelis (and what Gazan Arabs do to each other, seeing as 25%-36% those rockets — literally hundreds of rockets — fall within Gazan, destroying their own homes, plus wounding and killing their fellow Muslim-Arabs).
So in order for the Israeli response to be proportionate, Israelis would need do much more than merely bomb Gaza.
A proportionate response, in addition to bombing Gaza, would also obligate Israelis to burst into Gaza by the thousands, Gazan home by Gazan home, to:
- loot
- plunder
- burn
- terrorize
- dismember
- mutilate
- assault
- torture
- violate
- murder (via beheading, shooting, burning, dismemberment)
— and do so to every single Arab they find, including babies and the elderly.
A proportionate response would also call for Israelis to (using the victims' own phones) upload horrific images to the victims' social media accounts, then call home to exult: "Mom! Dad! You can be so proud of me now! I've killed a dozen Muslims and I'm calling from the phone of a Muslim woman I murdered and EVEN HAVE HER BLOOD ON MY HANDS AS WE SPEAK!!!" (as one terrorist did in a publicized phone call to his family).
Oh, and they'd also need to capture young mothers, children, babies, elderly women, and wounded young men, then keep them in creepy underground tunnels for weeks in intolerable conditions.
That would constitute a proportionate response.
Only no Jew would ever be willing to stoop to such ruthlessness, gore, and barbarism.
Because of this, Gazan Arabs will never receive a "proportionate" response from Israel.
Sorry to disappoint you, World.
