For example, Rabbanit Kook's segulah, as described here:
a-heavenly-happy-holy-woman-rebbetzin-leah-kook.html
When I did it, it took me 40 minutes to do it because it consists of lighting 18 candles, one at time, in honor of a tzaddik or tzaddika, and saying Psalm 86 after each lighting — essentially saying Perek 86 x 18.
It worked immediately for what I did it for, but I wanted to do it again, yet kept putting it off because I realized it would be another 40-minute chunk of time and trying to say the Tehillim with kavanah the whole time.
Finally, I realized, What, Hashem will look upon me badly if I light only 2 candles in honor of Him and tzaddikim, and thereby say the Tehillim twice?
Of course He won't!
Davka, He'll be very happy with 2 candles and 2 recitations.
It's a very beautiful Perek to say and any minute spent with Hashem is invaluably meaningful.
So I lit 2 candles and said Psalm 86 after each one.
The next day, I did 6.
The day after that...4.
And the next day, another 4.
You probably noticed that's only 16 so far, not 18.
For some reason, my mind switched to thinking it was 16, until 2 days later, I realized my mistake and lit the final 2.
(I don't know why I got mixed up about something so simple, but just saying that's what happened.)
Anyway, I felt very good about it.
After all, I honored Hashem and 17 tzaddikim, plus recited Tehillim 86 eighteen times.
So why should I feel bad? Because I didn't do it all in one go?
Nah.
It's a very nice segulah to do, but it's not a halacha.
Halacha must be done the way it's written. It's Law.
But this is a segulah.
It's a very nice thing to do and it's beneficial to say Tehillim and light candles for Hashem and tzaddikim in any amount, no matter how small.
So...just wanted to share that in case you, like me, sometimes get caught up in the letter rather than the spirit, and need a reminder and reassurance about returning to the spirit.
P.S.
If you wanted to perform this segulah with a much shorter Psalm, that would likely reap blessing too.
